A lunch club run by volunteers has celebrated another success – a special lunch.
Alsager Civic welcomed a large group of the town's senior citizens who regularly attend the twice weekly lunch clubs for a special Easter lunch.
And now they are appealing for volunteers to help keep the popular Alsager Civic Lunch Club going.
There were smiles all round as everyone tucked into a two-course roast lunch at tables decorated with spring flowers and everyone had an Easter egg to take home.
Sheila Davies, the Lunch Club manager said: "We appreciate some volunteers can't make every session. We have people who do one session a month as well as those who help every week.
"Any amount that people can offer is a great help. We need more volunteers to help us to continue providing this service for our elderly people.
"If anyone is interested, they can contact me or pop in on Tuesday or Thursday around 11 am and they can see what we are about.
"People who would like to join us for lunch can contact me and we can see if we have availability."
The lunch club is run for older residents, who often live on their own, to enjoy a nutritious meal for just £5 and spend a couple of hours with friends.
"The club is very popular (and there is a waiting list) and volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways from helping in the kitchen to greeting people as they arrive and as drivers to ferry guests to and from home," a spokesperson added.
Anyone wanting to help out or find out more about the club can contact Sheila Davies on 07513 378398. The club also has a Facebook page here
