An Alsager shop which has been part of the town's lifeblood for over a decade is closing at the end of May after the owner announced plans to semi-retire.

Sharon Copestake, who runs Beading Amazing in Crewe Road, suffered a health scare at the end of last year which has prompted her to have a change of lifestyle.

She is closing the shop in three month's time - at the end of May - and hopes to semi-retire to Anglesey but will carry on her beading business on-line.

"I'm selling off my non-bedding items and getting ready to move away and have a change of lifestyle," said Sharon who set up the business around 12 years ago.

"I had a medical issue last year with my heart which will mean I'm on medication for the rest of my life. It just made me realise that I need to change my lifestyle."

Sharon, whose business is renowned for its workshops and community engagement, says she will miss her customers but feels it's time to make a change.

She added: "I know we've built a fabulous community, support and friendships over the years, support and friendship over the years in the shop but following my recent health issues, I would be silly not to take notice and slow down."
