Alsager's annual pride event next month is 'unexpectedly' cancelled

Organisers of Alsager's annual Pride day celebrating LGBTQ+ community have cancelled this year's event.
Pride in Alsager cited "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason for calling off the event, due to take place on Saturday, 8 August.
In the past, there has been a parade ending up with stalls and music at Alsager Cricket Club in Fairview Avenue.
Pride in Alsager said on Social Media: "Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our annual Pride in Alsager event on 8 August.
"We remain committed to supporting our LGBTQIA+ community and will be holding further events throughout the year."
It comes after Pride in Alsager held a fundraising quiz on 25 June at Bod Alsager.
Bod Alsager in Crewe Road has said it will still be celebrating Pride on 8 August with a live music event.
They said: "All of us here at Bod Alsager are saddened to hear the news that Pride in Alsager has been cancelled this year.
"We'll still be celebrating all things Pride here at Bod Alsager on Saturday 8th August, with our own event featuring live music and great drinks! Everyone is welcome, and we can't wait to see you there."
