Alsager West a hotspot for positive Covid-19 cases in borough

Alsager's positive Covid-19 cases stood out in Cheshire East according to the latest official figures.

In the seven days to Saturday 24th October, 40 new cases were reported in Alsager West, up 21 on the previous week, with a rolling rate of 704.2 per 100,000 people.

Eighteen positive cases were recorded in Alsager East, an increase of eight and a rolling rate per 100,000 of 275.4.

On the official map, areas are colour coded by their rate, with purples and blues being the highest and yellows and greens being the lowest.

The official map for coronavirus cases currently shows the West Ward as dark purple, which indicates a rolling rate of more than 400 per 100,000 people.

The nearest other purple area to Alsager West is Madeley and Betley. Its rolling rate for same period was 411.8.

The next nearest purple patch to the north was Mobberley, Plumley and High Legh with a rolling rate of 509.7.

Prestbury and Adlington had a rolling rate of 449.7 and Fulshaw Park and Lindow, near Wilmslow, had a rolling rate of 691.6.

In comparison to other towns in the borough, 16 new cases were recorded in Haslington and Weston, which includes Oakhanger, an increase of 10 cases and a rolling rate of 164.8.

Twenty-eight positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Scholar Green, Rode Heath and Brereton, an increase of five and a rolling rate of 257.2.

In Sandbach North, there was nine cases, an increase of six and a rolling rate of 145.4.

Eleven new cases were recorded in Sandbach Ettiley Heath & Wheelock, a drop of eight and a rolling rate of 120.2 while Sandbach Heath saw 10 new cases, an increase of one and a rolling rate of 184.6.

There were 15 new cases in Holmes Chapel, up nine and a rolling rate of 248.2.

For Cranage and Goostery, which includes Swettenham and the edge of Congleton, six new cases were reported, down two and a rolling rate of 88.7.

There were eight recorded cases in Congleton West Heath, a drop of one and a rolling rate of 116.2.

In Congleton Town, there were 14 positive coronavirus cases, an increase one and a rolling rate of 195.4.

Eight positive cases were reported in Buglawton, a drop of six and a rolling rate of 111 while cases in Hightown, Mossley and Timbersbrook went up seven to 13. The rolling rate there was 241.6.

There were 17 new cases for Gawsworth and Macclesfield Forest, a drop of 12 and a rolling rate of 177.2.

However, in comparison figures for parts of Crewe were "suppressed", which means there were fewer than three cases in a seven-day period.
