Alsager Town Council votes in the two councillors to head up the body for the next year

Alsager Town Council has elected its new Chair and Vice chair to serve the town for the coming year.

Stepping down as Chair of Alsager Town Council and leaving the council all together, Phil Williams said the town council was highly regarded.

He thanked councillors and town council staff for their hard work and urged town councillors to work with their three Cheshire East councillors throughout the next year.

Mr Williams, who was also an Alsager Cheshire East councillor, handed over the reins to incoming chair, Councillor Jane Hearne, at Alsager Town Council's annual meeting last night (Tuesday).

Cllr Hearne presented a commemorative badge to outgoing Chair, Phil Williams.

She said: "Alsager is a great place to live and it's my intention to work with you all as a team.

"A number of councillors have retired and there are a number of new faces on the town council.

"I'm looking forward to this year and I think we will all work really well together."

Councillor Michael Unett, a councillor for the East ward, was elected as Vice Chair of the town council.

He said he was looking forward to his role and working with Cllr Hearne to get a lot achieved for residents in the coming months.

Alsager Town Council currently has four vacancies for councillors - two in Alsager West ward and two in Alsager East ward.

The town council, made up of 15 councillors, is looking to co-opt four councillors . Applications have opened as revealed in our story here

The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, May 26th, 2023.
