The first day back to school after the Christmas holidays has been delayed for many youngsters due to the snowfall overnight.

Alsager School in Hasall Road was shut today (Monday) after snow fell overnight.

A statement on the school's Facebook page said: "Alsager School is closed because of the bad weather. More updates will follow in due course."

In nearby Sandbach, the town's two secondary schools were also affected by the weather. Sandbach School in Crewe Road was closed along with Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College where students were working remotely with on-line lessons.
