An Alsager resident has launched a new hair and beauty business, located on a street currently being redeveloped in a nearby Cheshire town.

Cabelo, Victoria Street, Crewe, underwent a soft opening on Friday 3 November and officially launched at 9am on Monday 6 November.

"I am really excited to launch Cabelo. I feel really grateful and happy the business is finally open, it gives me a real sense of pride," said business owner, Lucy Powell.

Cabelo, Victoria Street, is owned by Alsager resident, Lucy Powell (Madison Flower).

Lucy, from Alsager, is employing four stylists (including herself), a nail technician and another member of staff shortly.

She first heard of an opportunity to open her own business, when her dad, Chris Powell, was carrying out redevelopment works on Victoria Street.

Lucy told Nub News: "My dad has completed the works on the new salon, carrying out my vision for the place. He has been amazing.

"This entire row of Victoria Street is being renovated after it was bought by the owner of Victoria Street Dental Practise.

"My dad is doing all the developing work for him and this is how I got the opportunity to lease this building.

Lucy Powell was nervous to open Cabelo, but is delighted the business finally come to fruition (Madison Flower).

"I was really nervous to start with at the prospect of running Cabelo but I have done it now and feel great.

The business owner said: "I have been doing hair since I left school and I worked at a salon in Alsager for about five years.

"I then had a little boy and needed to work part-time, so I joined Renaissance Hair on Victoria Street.

"I took over this business around two years ago and during that time we have been working on my new business next door.

Cabelo was formerly occupied by Mr Pizza, with the entire row of Victoria Street in the process of being redeveloped (Ryan Parker).

"It used to be the Mr Pizza restaurant which had a big fire and there were damages everywhere. Thankfully all the issues were sorted."

Lucy is confident Cabelo will succeed and is encouraging people to give her business a try.

The mum-of-one added: "People should come and try out Cabelo because all the staff are lovely here. We really care about every single client and will do our best for them.

"A lot of our clients have said they love the atmosphere in Renaissance that brings them back.

"I am good at keeping up with the trends and my colleague Sally has over 30 years experience.

Cabelo is open 9am until 5am (Monday to Saturday) fortnightly, with the business open 9am until late every other week (Madison Flower).

"All our equipment is brand new and exciting. I have really high hopes for this business, come and give Cabelo a try."
