Alsager pub wins South Cheshire Pub of the Year for the second year running
An Alsager pub has won CAMRA'S South Cheshire Pub Of The Year for the second year running.
The Lodge Inn in Crewe Road has been crowned with the prestigious title by the Campaign for Real Ale.
And landlords, Sarah and Carl Smith who took over The Lodge a while back, are delighted to receive the award for the second year running.
Carl said: "Sarah and I are thrilled to win this converted title for the second year running, we work hard to ensure that our eight cask ales are in perfect condition.
"We now go forward to the whole of Cheshire award against the four other areas of Cheshire. The award will be presented, and a party will be had on 11th May."
Alsager Nub News told here how ales available are shown on the pub's website which is regularly updated and customers can also download an app so they get notifications straight to their phone about what's available.
A spokesperson for the South Cheshire branch of CAMRA explained on social media how the judging process of the competition works.
"The branch Pub Of The Year judging is the first round within CAMRA's overall Pub of The Year competition," they said.
"All pubs in the branch area are automatically eligible and there are no fees involved.
"The final shortlist is determined by the beer scores entered via WhatPub throughout the year. The shortlisted pubs are then visited and judged by branch volunteers against 8 criteria.
"Customer feedback is taken into account in so far as the members entering scores throughout the year are customers and of course the judges visit anonymously as customers."
