The former late Queen has been honoured again in 2024 – thanks to the kind-hearted efforts of a women's group in the town.

Members of the group gathered together today (Thursday) to hold a short service to commemorate the planting of the Mountain Ash/Rowan tree in the town.

The tree has been planted in honour of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Chairman, Margaret Jones, said there had been a delay in getting a plaque for the tree hence the commemoration event today.

The chairman read out a poem to mark the occasion which included the following words:

Alsager Pikemere Townswomen's Guild is a thriving group which meets the second Thursday of the month (except August) at 7.30 pm at Alsager United Reformed Church in Brookhouse Road, Alsager.
