A new bowling alley is set to open on a Crewe town centre leisure park - following the recent approval of a new premises licence.

Last month, (July 22), Cheshire East Council granted Tenpin Ltd its premises licence for Phoenix Leisure Park, Dunwoody Way.

Tenpin will be opening inside the former MFA Bowl unit on the leisure park, which closed in 2018.

It is one of the largest bowling brands in the UK - currently operating 46 bowling centres across the UK.

The new Crewe bowling alley will have an on-site restaurant, bar and arcade.

Tenpin will open its Crewe centre to the public from 10am to 1am the following morning - Monday to Thursday.

Across the weekend, the bowling centre will to open from 10am to 2am the following morning.

Currently, the nearest Tenpin bowling centre to Crewe is in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent (Google).

The sale of alcohol and late night refreshments will end one hour before every close.

Currently, the nearest bowling alley to Crewe is Lymelight Lanes, Newcastle-under-Lyme - 14 miles away.

The nearest Tenpin bowling centres to Crewe are Tenpin Stoke (15 miles), Tenpin Wrexham (26 miles) and Tenpin Cheshire Oaks (28 miles).

Many Tenpin bowling sites were formerly known as Megabowl until 2008 and 2009.

The bowling centre carried out a rebranding of all sites during the late 2010's.

This unit was previously expected to be occupied by PureGym.

The gym chain has opted to open on the Grand Junction Retail Park instead.

Crewe Nub News has contacted Tenpin Ltd for comment on the development's timescale.
