An Alsager mum and others have launched a JustGiving appeal to raise money to do an 'emergency shop' for families in need.

Mum of six, Kelly-Anne Doyle works alongside friend Laura Pyror on Laura's project called 'The Alsager Shed'.

Now Kelly-Anne has launched a JustGiving page to raise £1,000 to help fund emergency food for families in need.

"When a family is referred to a food bank there's often a two or three day wait until this happens," she said.

"We've set up a fund so we can help buy food for them until then. So far we've helped around three families."

The JustGiving page says: "We understand there is a desperate need to help our community during the price hikes.

"We know personally how hard it is to ask for help from others, we'd like to set up a just giving page to help raise funds to help families that are struggling during these worrying times.

"We want to provide a no questions asked way in which our neighbourhood can privately message 'Alsager shed' volunteers in their desperate hour of need.

"We will then go and do an emergency shop for that family to help them through until they can get further help from places such as the food bank."

The fund also means that anyone coming to the table/shed to take food can offer a donation if they want to.

Kelly-Anne added: "We were finding people wanted to leave money but we're not able to do that. This way they can make a donation if they want to."

So far just over £200 has been raised and Kelly-Anne is hopeful more money will start coming in.

Anyone who wants to donate can do so via this link here
