Age UK in Alsager has a vacancy for a part-time assistant store manager, a role which store manager Gayle Houghton-Pass says is an interesting opportunity.

Gayle has worked at the Alsager branch for seven years as well as working at Age UK's Newcastle-under-Lyme branch.

She said: "It's a rewarding charity which helps the elderly. Some of our customers are literally part of our family.

"As a shop we also give advice and we have a section in the corner with Age UK leaflets.

"We have lots of donations coming in and we are grateful for those we receive. It's a lovely place to work."

Age UK say the successful applicant will surpass targets and expectations and have strong retail and customer service skills.

The applicant will be displaying goods effectively and maintaining the shop's appearance, recruit, support and train volunteers in the shop as required by the shop manager.

They will also encourage the work of Age UK and generate stock donations to meet sale requirements.

The role, worked over 21 hours, also covers stock rotation, sorting stock and helping the shop manager to drive the success and profitability of the store, covering for management when necessary.
