Alsager Girlguiding and scout leaders join in award celebrations

Girlguiding and scout leaders from Alsager joined in celebrations for a leader who was presented with the second highest award in the organisation.

Claire Worth from Sandbach, who has spent more than a quarter of a century giving her services to the youth organisation has received a special award for her outstanding work.

Deputy Chief Commissioner for Girlguiding North West, Kathryn Qattan presented the award last night to a packed celebration at Sandbach Cricket Club.

The Mayor of Sandbach, Councillor Geraint Price Jones and his consort, Mrs Christina Price Jones and Girlguiding and Scout leaders from Alsager and other areas attended the award celebration evening at Sandbach Cricket Club.

Claire, who leads the 3rd Elworth Guides and the 4th Elworth brownies was absolutely delighted with her award.

She said: "It's such an honour and I am so proud to receive it," said Claire who has been a leader in the organisation since she was 18.

Claire, who plays a major role in the organisation's North West branch and has organised major events, is known for her skills, ability and compassion.

Those who attended the presentation evening enjoyed a buffet which included a special Girlguide cake made for the occasion.

Alsager leaders Don and Teresa Longhurst were among those celebrating with Claire last night.
