Alsager firefighters tackle blaze on M6 after a car transporter catches fire

Firefighters from Alsager were called to a blaze on the motorway yesterday (Thursday) after a car transporter caught fire.
The M6 northbound was closed after the incident between junctions 19 and 20 at 2.13 pm.
Seven vehicles on the transporter were involved in the blaze which involved the trailer section of the vehicle.
Fire engines from, Alsager, Lymm, Winsford, Irlam (GMFRS), Altrincham (GMFRS) went to the blaze.
A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire with hose reel jets
"All vehicles on the trailer were well alight. There were no casualties involved in this incident."
"The tractor unit was detached from the trailer. The officer in charge of the incident requested the M6 north be closed while the fire is tackled. "
