An Alsager sustainable living shop is launching a new arm to its business - a book swap to stop printed novels and literature going to landfill.

Rose's Refills in Lawton Road is launching the new service, encouraging customers to drop off unwanted books and take home a new one to read.

The shop said on Social Media: "It is a sustainable and cost-effective way to refresh yur book shelf and share the universal language of reading."

Former nursery teacher, Rose King, opened Rosie's Refills, opposite Alsager Civic, three years ago in 2023, to encourage others to follow a sustainable lifestyle.

The family-run business allows customers to take their own containers or purchase pre-loved ones to refill on bulk goods, reducing single-use plastic and landfill waste.

She said previously: "It's about making changes, however small or big they are, for future generations.

"We don't know what life will be like in the future but we need to start thinking about what is happening and the impact we're having."

Rose worked at Springhead Primary School in Talke Pits for a number of years before opening her Alsager shop.
