The leader of an Alsager brownie group has put a plea out for local children's poets who would like to join inspire youngsters and help celebrate National Poetry Day to get in touch.

This year, National Poetry Day takes place on on Thursday, 1 October when the 5th Alsager Brownies will be meeting.

Now leader, Laura Edwards, an occupational therapist, has put an appeal out for a local poet to come along and share their work , what inspires them and why they write poetry.

She said: "It doesn't have to be a children's poet. We just would like someone to read some of their poems and tell us why they became a poet and what inspires them.

"The day falls on a day we meet so I thought it would be good to do something like this."
