The recent transformation at Alsager Highfields Primary School continued with a new headteacher who started after the Easter holidays.

Mrs Rachel Woollam took up the post of headteacher at the school on 19th April. She was head of school at Rode Heath Primary, having worked there for 27 years.

She brings a "wealth of leadership experience and expertise" to Alsager Highfields and is particularly "passionate" about "getting the foundations right" in early years education and the "importance" of reading in every child's life.

Alsager Highfields, joined Alsager Multi Academy Trust (AMAT) in September last year and Richard Middlebrook (CEO of AMAT) has been Acting Headteacher at the school until a permanent appointment was made.

Mr Middlebrook said: "I am delighted that Rachel has joined our trust of schools as Headteacher at Highfields.

"Her leadership experience, proven track record, drive for high standards and having the highest expectations for all children and staff, mean that Alsager Highfields will continue to go from strength-to-strength.

"We have made real improvements in the school since September, and I am very confident that Rachel will build on these and take our school further forward.

"I will be working closely alongside her, as leader of AMAT, to ensure every child at Highfields has the best possible start in life.

"I would also like to thank Mr Carl Leech, Headteacher at Rode Heath Primary, for the support he has given and the hard work he has put into Highfields over the last 15 months as a seconded Executive Headteacher.

"His experience and input has been invaluable. I feel very confident indeed about the future of our school, we have dedicated and talented staff, fantastic young people who are a pleasure to work with every day, Rachel is very much joining a school 'on the up'."
