UP CLOSE: With temperatures plummeting and snow on the ground we speak to the BBC's weathergirl who lives near Alsager.

There's no such thing as bad weather – it's just bad clothing says Beccy Wood, BBC presenter and reporter.

The fun-loving woman has a sunny personality inside and out and no matter what the weather she's always determined to have a bright day.

For it doesn't matter whether it's blowing a gale or pelting down with rain Beccy will be out walking the dogs who live on the farm with her in Rode Heath.

And when she's walked the dogs and got ready for work she's off heading down the M6 to the studios for Midlands Today in Birmingham's Mailbox.

"Doing the weather is petrifying because if I say it's going to be nice weather over the weekend and I wake up on Saturday morning to rain I feel bad," said the 38-year-old.

"You also have to bear in mind what you're wearing when you read the news and weather.

"You can't wear a short-sleeved top or summer type clothing when it's freezing cold outside."

Beccy, who grew up in Arclid and went to Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, did an English degree and a masters in broadcast journalism.

She had training from the Met Office for her weather reading and it's not just on TV when she's talking about the weather.

Beccy's 8,500 followers instagram followers on beccywoodTV get daily updates from her.

For come rain or shine Beccy is out walking the dogs and she has revealed her big secret – layers and thermals.

She said: "There's no such thing as bad weather – it's bad clothing," joked Beccy who is rarely seen outside without her trusty woollen hat and thermals when it's cold.
