We have 3 Bakkavor Bread sites based in Crewe, Nantwich and Barton that specialise in making hand-crafted flatbreads, baguettes, doughballs and ciabattas for customers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Waitrose and our own Pizza Express brand. About the role. The Materials Controller is responsible for ensuring materials are available to meet the demands of all bread sites, through effective ordering and inventory control processes, liaising with a variety of internal and external parties, including suppliers and hauliers, to ensure highest levels of service are maintained both efficiently and cost effectively. Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure that materials are always available and delivered on time to meet production schedules.
  • Build and maintain internal relations in other functions and locations, including Commercial, Process Team, Technical and site stores and De Box areas.
  • Look at ways to improve customer service, short and long-term control systems development and further opportunities.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of data in ERP & MRP systems used to schedule materials.
  • Daily use of department KPI's to identify appropriate resource stock levels, minimizing waste, special vehicles and redundant stock write off.
  • Represent department at internal and external meetings as required. Report back to the team with key actions and updates. Feedback to meeting stakeholders with action updates as appropriate.
  • Make challenges where appropriate with internal and external stakeholders to improve ways of working with the aim of reducing costs to the business.
  • Proactively develop collaborative working relationships with suppliers and continually review ways of working.
About you.
  • Ideally you will have previous experience of a similar role within a fast-paced FMCG or food manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent Communication skills (both written and verbal) with attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • PC literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft office software.
  • Problem solving skills offering creative solutions.
  • Inquisitive in nature with a thirst to learn and absorb and understand information.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and with people at different levels as well as the ability to work under own initiative when required.
  • To be able to work logically and systematically with good time management skills.
  • Competence with numbers, including costings, calculations, and performance data.
