Triton Men's 1s and Triton Ladies' 2s

Both the Triton Men's 1s and Ladies' 2s games were postponed due to the tightening Covd-19 restrictions implemented during last week.

With Lancashire and Liverpool being in tier 3, the restrictions placed by the devolved Welsh government and the potential of Manchester entering tier 3 it is difficult seeing the club playing hockey outside of Cheshire in the weeks ahead.

On the face of it this was a really difficult afternoon for the team. However, there were long periods in both halves where Triton dominated but couldn't find the finish its play justly deserved with Hannah Spears, Becky Shaw and Vicki Bennion all going close to a deserved goal.

The returning Lottie Wade playing in midfield also had an excellent game too and was voted Triton's player of the match.

This game was another that was very much closer than the final score with the difference between the teams being a slice of luck and a good finish.

Sale took an early lead very much against the run of play but Triton responded immediately with a goal from vice-skipper Tony Stevens.

Triton had other good opportunities but couldn't take them with Joss Berry, Will Turner, Mark Drew and Tom Statham all having efforts saved by the Sale keeper.

In the second half Sale regained the lead when a wicked deflection beat keeper Oskar Lindblad. Sale scored a third on a quick counter attack and added a fourth just before the final whistle.

Crewe Vagrants Men's 3s 2 Triton Men's 3s 1

Vagrants took the spoils in the earlier of the day's two derbies to end the Men's 3s 100% start to the season. Michael Smissen continued his fine run of form scoring the Triton goal.

The Men's 4s took the spoils and an element of revenge in a very tight game at Alsager Sports Hub.

The game began with Triton immediately on the back foot as Crewe had an early spell of pressure that resulted in a goal for Vagrants.

Triton responded by creating pressure around the D but couldn't generate sustained pressure on the Crewe goal.

Having had one effort previously ruled out, Simon Moss grabbed a debut goal from a penalty corner with a sweet strike. The first half finished with the home team pleased to be level at 1-1.

In the second half, the Triton midfield and forwards started brightly and looked to press high up the pitch.

Overall, there was a greater intensity to the play, and this was rewarded when Alistair Leek scored his first senior goal midway through the half.

The ball was worked to him and he pulled it out to the top of the D before striking it past the keeper. This sparked a Crewe onslaught and Darren Cook was again fantastic in goal.

The defence of Moss, Scott Whittaker and Nathan Williams made important interventions during this period too. One goal line stop prevented a certain equaliser.

A couple of counter attacks from Triton generated half chances that were not taken but the team lived dangerously as it managed to eke out the win in a resilient performance.
