A bright, clear sky helped nature lovers take part in a community project near Alsager today (Wednesday).

The Friends of Hassall Green Nature Reserve threw open the doors to the community to get involved and learn new skills.

They invited people to come along and join them today between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm to learn what the group does and how to become a part.

A spokesperson said: "It was an opportunity to learn what the group does and how people could be part of preserving a local, hidden, ecological gem."

The Friends are a group of interested, local people who come together to improve the facilities, conservation value and safety of a green space.

Members get involved in a range of activities, including fundraising for improvements, practical tasks and making sure the local community's voice is heard.

If you didn't manage to get along today but want to get involved, email project officer, Rebecca Mooney at [email protected]
