A 45-year-old woman suffered from "slight" smoke inhalation following a toaster fire in Alsager.

Firefighters were called to Station Road in Alsager shortly after 6pm yesterday (Tuesday, 1 December) following reports of a fire at a house.

Crews from Alsager and Crewe attended and on arrival they discovered the fire was located in the kitchen area.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the flames.

"A large fan was used to disperse smoke. A 45-year-old woman inside the property was suffering from slight smoke inhalation.

"The fire is believed to have involved a toaster."
