A specially designed roundabout in Milton Park and a 'play truck' in the play area near Fairview car park, both suitable for wheelchairs, have been installed.

And more inclusive play equipment may be installed in another part of Alsager, in Edwards Way.

Alsager Town Council consulted residents about play equipment in the town and now the equipment has been installed close to car parking facilities.

Both fit within the 'footprint' previously occupied by play equipment that was nearing the end of its useful life.

The equipment has been funded from contributions from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CiL), a charge which can be levied by local authorities from new housing developments in their area.

Just over £35,000 has been utilised from Alsager Town Council CiL budget.

Councillor Philip Williams, Chair of Alsager Town Council said: "It is particularly gratifying in this instance as it is something clearly endorsed by residents when we went out to consultation on our key priorities.

"ANSA responded quickly and efficiently when they received our order and instructions and were able to source equipment that fitted perfectly with the space available.

"We took advice on the location and looked at how other local councils have approached the provision of equipment of this kind.

There was very positive input from town councillors when we discussed and agreed the specifications.

We look forward to seeing the equipment being enjoyed by local children and their families for many years to come.'

"There is still some funding to come from another source, s106 funds, in relation to the new estates under construction on the former Twyfords site.

"These are ear-marked for possible inclusive equipment on the play area on Edwards Way.

"When this becomes available the town council will be able to apply for this and to learn from any lessons or observations from the equipment at Milton Park and the Fairview Play Area.'
