Cycle riders in Alsager are gearing up for a charity bike ride next weekend - in aid of two local charities.

Alsager Harlequins Cycling Club and Alsager Rotary Club have teamed up to organise the Reliability Ride.

It takes place on Sunday (April 24th) and money raised will go to Alsager Food Bank and Alsager Rotary club's 'Youth Programme'.

Cyclists will be setting off from the Horseshoe Inn in Sandbach Road,  Lawton Heath End, at 8.30 am and 9.30 am, doing either a 35 mile ride or a 50 mile ride.

The shorter ride heads out towards Nantwich, before turning towards Audlem and on to Woore, then returning to Alsager via Betley and Barthomley.

The longer ride heads off towards Scholar Green and an ascent of Mow Cop before dropping into Congleton and then heading out to Goostrey.

Riders will then turn for home via Middlewich and Nantwich.

The entry fee for each ride is £5 and riders must be 18 years or over unless accompanied by an adult.

There will be parking at The Horseshoe Inn for anyone who won't be riding to the event and the Rotary Club will be providing tea, coffee and cakes.

There are also two short rides taking place. The first follows a 10-mile route around Winterley and the second is a couple of miles on cycle tracks around the Salt Line for those with very young children or who simply don't fancy riding on the road.

Entry is again £5 with children going free if they are accompanied by a paying adult.

The 'fun-ride' will leave at 10:30 and there will be marshals and a 'broom wagon' for anyone who experiences mechanical or other difficulties.

Further Information about the events can be obtained from Allan Smith, Alsager Rotary Club on 01270 879959 or [email protected], David Price, Alsager Harlequins Cycling Club, [email protected], Harlequins Facebook Page or website https://www.alsagerharlequinscc.co.uk.
