Three fire engines went to tackle a car blaze on the M6 today (Thursday).

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called the M6 southbound between junction 15 and 16 at 8.40 am following reports of a car fire.

A spokesperson said: "Crews from Hanley, Newcastle and Sandyford attended with Staffordshire Police.

"We found a silver Volkswagen Golf well-alight and extinguished the fire by 9.25am using a hose reel jet. No one was injured."
