The cast from Alsager Community theatre will take to the stage tonight (Wednesday) for the opening night of their latest performance.

Willy Russell's 'Our Day Out' is being staged at Alsager Civic from tonight until Saturday (November 19th).

Alsager Community Theatre (ACT) is 50 years old next year and the production follows hot on the heels of 'A Christmas Carol' staged in 2021.

And the cast includes seven new members who have never acted with ACT before.

Director, Brian Ormrod, says 'Our Day Out' is a wonderful play for children which he first came across in his teaching days.

"The beauty and innocence of the songs and the profound message it delivered about disadvantaged children, touched me then as it does today almost forty years on," said Brian.

"Taking my inspiration from Dennis Potter's use of adult actors to play the roles of children in 'Blue Remembered Hills', I reasoned that the same conceit might work equally well for Willy Russell's play and so the project was born."

"A full cast was finally assembled with, I am delighted to say, seven new members who have never acted with the company before. Long may they remain with us."

'Our Day Out' is on stage at 7.30 pm from November 16th – 18th at 7.30pm with a matinee performance at 4 pm on Saturday (November 19th).

Tickets can be purchased via the Website on EVENTBRITE http://alsagercommunitytheatre.org.uk/ emailing the box office on – [email protected] or phoning the box office on 07938 028292

Tickets can be purchased on the door at £12.50 each or £35.00 for families (two adults and two children).
