Members of a group which provides help for stroke survivors in Alsager and beyond partied in style – partly thanks to Nub News and the Co-op.

Alsager resident, Sue Helliwell, was one of the lucky winners in a one-off Nub News and Co-op competition last month.

Sue is a volunteer at the newly-launched Stroke Survivors Speech and Language group at the 13 Club in Alsager. which meets every Thursday morning.

And she kindly donated her celebration box - bunting, mini flags, crowns, cake toppers a tablecloth and party accessories plus handy hints to help make the celebration a success – to their Platinum Jubilee event.

Sue's Co-op celebration box arrived in good time for The Platinum Jubilee celebrations taking place between Thursday 2 June and Sunday 5 June.

The Jubilee celebration boxes were sent out the week commencing May 23, arriving in plenty of time for the event.

Sue told Nub News: "It was a lovely edition to the party. We had a fantastic time and we'd like to thank Alsager Nub News and the Co-op for the box."

The group organised the big party which was kindly funded by Alsager Town Council, Alsager Partnership and Cheshire East Council.

Arthur Harding, chairman of Alsager Partnership at the event.

Sue added: "We'd like to thank those three organisations for the wonderful event and also for staff from the Thirteen Club, singer Victoria Gotham and Sgt Rob Richardson who made it a fantastic event and for all the hard work by everyone."

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee party was held on Thursday (June 2nd) at the Thirteen Club in Cedar Avenue where the group meets every Thursday morning.

And it not only included members and friends of the Alsager group but also members and families from the Crewe group.

The Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group in Crewe is four years' old and is based at Union Street Baptist Church on Union Street in Crewe, meeting on Tuesday at 11am,

Like the Alsager group, it helps stroke survivors in Cheshire East and surrounding areas with speech, language and communication difficulties.

Co-op Membership helps support Co-op's national charity partners and Local Community Fund causes.
