Eleven walkers have raised more than £2275 for two stroke groups after scaling the heady heights of Snowdon.

The walkers took part in a charity walk earlier this month (July) to raise funds for Stroke Survivors Speech and Language Support Group in Alsager and Crewe.

Founder and organiser, Liz Bedson, has heaped praise on the walkers who trained and gave up their time for the big event.

Liz said: "It's an amazing achievement and we're so proud of them. They put in so much effort and time to achieve this. We're delighted.

"So far the total from the Snowdon event is £2,275 and we're still waiting for more money to come through."

She added: "The two groups are working well and are a brilliant resource for stroke survivors. It's lovely see people making progress and making good friends.

"This money raised will help us to run the two groups and support the people who come along to use them."

Now Liz is busy adding the final touches to the next fundraiser – a quiz night at Bru Cafe and Coffee shop in Lyceum Square, Crewe next Saturday (August 6th).

Money raised will be used to support both groups which don't receive any funding from the Government or other charitable causes so rely on fundraising and kind donations.

The Alsager group was launched in May and is run by a Winterley stroke survivor, John Wenlock-Smith and his wife Susan.

It takes place at on Thursday mornings at the Thirteen Club in Cedar Avenue from 10.30 am until 12noon.

The Alsager group is an off-shoot of the Crewe Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group which is now celebrating its fourth year.

Ex-Bentley employee, John, suffered a life-changing stroke in July 2017 and sought the help of the Crewe group to help him get back on his feet.

He and his wife, Susan, a retired maths teacher, decided to launch a group nearer to home in Winterley and with the help of others, including the Alsager Partnership, launched the group.
