Two people had to be rescued from a car after it became trapped in flood water in Alsager.

Firefighters from Alsager and Congleton went to the incident in Linley Lane at 2.31 pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The road near Twyfords bridge had to be closed for a while due to heavy rain.

In December, an emergency closure was put in place after the road flooded.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning of rain for Cheshire from 5pm-9pm last night (Tuesday) during Storm Henk.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged motorists to take care when driving in heavy rain or floods.

A spokesperson said: "Driving in wet conditions can be hazardous, but you have a better chance of staying safe if you prepare for wet weather.

"Drivers can be caught out during heavy downpours, as even the most modern road surface is susceptible to standing water. This creates a potential aquaplaning hazard as well as significantly reducing visibility.

"Take it easy through standing water and if the steering does become unresponsive due to the rain, ease off the accelerator and slow down gradually."

They urge drivers to follow the following precautions here
