An Alsager school is celebrating after receiving praise in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Alsager Highfields Primary School in Fairview Avenue was recognised as a 'Good' school.

Ofsted described the school as "friendly and welcoming", where "pupils behave well, are polite and well mannered".

It went on to say that they benefit from high quality teaching within a curriculum that is "broad and ambitious" with a "love of reading being at the heart of the school".

The quality of leadership at all levels of the school also came in for special praise from the inspection team.

Headteacher Rachel Woollam said: "I am extremely proud of the entire school community who have worked tirelessly to ensure pupils of Alsager Highfields get the enriching education that they deserve.

"The Inspection was a fair and rigorous process and I am delighted that our school was recognised as the nurturing, special hub of education that it is. "

James Price in year six agreed with the inspector's comments saying :"It's a school that I'd highly recommend. It is so supportive and friendly."

Edie Tranter, also in year six echoed this saying: "There have been lots of big changes to the school, like the library. I really love our school."

Headteacher, Mrs Woollam continued: "I am so excited about the next phase at Alsager Highfields and am proud to be leading a fantastic team of staff who have worked incredibly hard to improve standards in all areas in record time. "

Following their previous Ofsted inspection in November 2019, the school was given a Directed Academy Order by The Department for Education, which means the school had to join a multi academy trust.

In September 2020, the school joined the local Alsager Multi Academy Trust (which has now expanded and is called The Cornovii Trust).

Richard Middlebrook, Chief Executive Officer for The Cornovii Trust, pictured below said "Everyone is absolutely delighted with the Ofsted report and that the inspection team recognised what a great school Alsager Highfields really is.

"Every single member of staff at the school has worked incredibly hard to improve our school and deserve a huge amount of credit for their hard work and professionalism.

"To improve a school from 'Inadequate' to 'Good' in under three years (half of which was affected by the Covid pandemic) is a quite remarkable achievement.

"When Highfields joined our Trust in September '20, I promised then that we would give our children the best possible start in life and we are doing just that.

"I am so pleased for our young people, who are an absolute delight to work with. I would also like to thank our fantastic and supportive parent body.

"These improvements could not have been made without them. Even though it has been a real team effort, I would like to single out Mrs Woollam, who only joined our school as headteacher two years ago, she has led this school improvement journey for Alsager Highfields quite brilliantly.

"I am confident that the school will build on this success and continue to go from strength to strength."
