It's Alsager Christmas lights switch-on this weekend and The Mere Inn has plenty to tempt your tastebuds and enjoy a drink or two in front of the cosy fire.

Renowned for its hospitality, The Mere has developed a reputation for live music and this Sunday (November 24th), is no exception!

Crowds will be turning out to the big event but why not enjoy some quiet time before you join the throng and chill out with friends and family with a drink or two?

The acoustic duo, Northern Lights, will be playing from 5 pm until 7 pm covering all decades and genres - a chance to chill out either before or after going to see the stalls!

Enjoy an afternoon of mulled wine, warm mince pies and live acoustic music before heading down to the big switch on.

The fun continues on Friday, December 7th when the band three-piece rockabilly/rock 'n' roll band Vavoom' are playing from 8.30 pm.

Have you got an office party or want to get a group of friends or family together? Whey not take them along to The Mere? On Saturday, December 14th, it's the 'Mere Christmas Party' at 7 pm

Kick off the season in style. Homemade mulled wine spiked with port and brandy, winter spiced rums and seasonal gin list with live music from Mere favourites, 'Malpractice'

Get the party started and head on down to The Mere on Christmas Eve from 2 pm until 11.30 pm. Whether you're planning a big night out with family and friends or popping in for a swift one after battling the last-minute hoards, The Mere will welcome you with a roaring fire, mince pies and festive tipples a plenty.

Fancy a drink on Christmas Day? Bung the turkey in the oven and head down to raise a glass to the big day itself. The Mere will be open from 12 noon until 2 pm.

Heading out for a walk on Boxing Day? Drop into The Mere which will be open from 3 pm until 10.30 pm.

No big plans for New Year's Eve? Enjoy a lazy afternoon in front of the fire with a live acoustic set from Grace & Lewis from 5 pm – 7 pm. Last orders will be 8pm.

Nothing blows out the cobwebs better than a brisk New Year's day walk and if there's a better way to finish a walk than in the pub, The Mere is yet to find it.

The fire will be roaring, the mulled wine simmering and the beer flowing from 12 noon until 6 pm.

A spokesperson from The Mere Inn said: "The surroundings are perfect to enjoy the festive period and raise a glass or two to the New Year.

"We'll have a roaring fire going, mince pies and festive tipples a plenty! Come and enjoy the quaint surroundings and relax with us!"
