Wine lovers in Alsager got the chance to sample some great flavours from France, Italy and Australia - thanks to a popular drinking venue in the town.

The Mere Inn held its Spring Wine Tasting evening recently and Alsager Nub News was there to capture the moment.

Distinguished wine specialist, Harry Ballman, founder of wine consultancy, Cépage, selected four wines to taste which were enjoyed alongside a British charcuterie platter.

Harry was a sommelier in a previous life, serving top names from Camilla, Queen Consort, to leading leading political figures. He certainly knows a thing or two about wine!

The event included a glass of fizz on arrival plus tasting of a rose from the South of France, a chardonnay and Beaujolais from France and a Shiraz made from grapes from Australia's highest planted vineyard.

The Mere Inn is a popular place in the town and has a host of events coming up this weekend for Easter.
