A loving lurcher/whippet is still looking for her forever home – months after being rescued by the RSPCA and cared for by Alsager Animals in Need.

Poppy was so emaciated when she was rescued by Alsager Animals in Need that it was feared she might not survive the night.

But after months of care by Alsager Animals in Need, she was found a foster home but now the charity wants to find her a permanent 'forever' home.

Poppy is doing so well in the kennels where she's living that the Alsager charity says she's now ready to settle down with a new owner.

Hilary Baxter from Alsager Animals in Need said: "She's doing so well but needs a permanent home.

"She's currently in kennels but we're hoping someone comes forward to give her a permanent 'forever' home.

"She's so loving and is such a beautiful dog but does need one-to-one."

The lurcher/whippet cross was covered in lesions and very underweight when a vet examined her.

But now the beautiful dog is fighting fit and ready to begin a new life with a loving new owner.

Lisa Williams, assistant animal co-ordinator at Alsager Animals in Need, said in a previous article: "Poppy was given a body score of one out of nine by the vet who treated her and we were very concerned that she wouldn't make it through the night when she first came into our care.

"It's been a long road to recovery for her but the light is finally back in her eyes."

Alsager Animals in Need, who have a Facebook page here, will help with the care of Poppy.

Anyone interested in providing a permanent home for Poppy can phone Hilary on 07939 255444 or Lisa on 07970 194929 between 11 am and 6 pm at Alsager Animals in Need.

Fingers crossed a new owner comes forward for this beautiful dog soon.
