Schools in Alsager could be asked to take part in an art project to improve the look of an empty building in the town.

Members of Alsager Town Council discussed the possibility of asking primary schools and the senior school to provide artwork for the empty Bank Corner building in Lawton Road.

The former Bank Corner building in Lawton Road closed in March last year and then a sign appeared saying it was becoming a children's nursery.

That plan fell through as we revealed here  and the building, once a pub and entertainment venue, went back on the market.

Since then nothing has happened and residents in the town are eagerly awaiting news about the future of the landmark building.

The idea to ask local primary schools to make 'decorated panels' was discussed at the annual meeting of Alsager Town Council.

Councillors agreed decorated panels might make the area "look more pleasant".
