Work on the long-awaited new Sainsbury's in Alsager is well underway and the food giant has applied for permission to sell alcohol at the new store.
Sainsbury's has applied to Cheshire East Council for a premises licence to sell late night refreshments 23.00 - 00.00.
It has also applied to sell alcohol Monday – Sunday 24 hours a day at the new supermarket in Linley Lane.
Alsager Nub News told here in April how Cheshire East had given the go-ahead for revised plans for the Sainsbury's store which will create about 100 new jobs.
The supermarket giant secured permission for the new store on the site of the former Twyford Bathrooms off Linley Lane in 2014 but it never materialised.
In April, Cheshire East's strategic planning board took less than 20 minutes to unanimously approve a revised application for the scheme, which will also include an in-store Argos.
The store will also include a petrol station with six filling points as well as four rapid charging points and 249 parking spaces.
Alsager Nubs revealed on Monday (August 5th) here how Starbucks had submitted an application to Cheshire East Council for a drive-thru as part of the long-awaited Sainsbury's scheme.
