Runners take to the streets tomorrow for the annual Alsager 5 road race

Organisers of tomorrow's big road race around Alsager are adding the finishing touches.

Alsager 5 competitors take to the town's streets tomorrow (Sunday) for what is the first race of the season for the North Staffordshire Road Runners Association (NSRRA).

Twenty-five marshals, 10 traffic management people and 25 helpers will all be making sure the five-mile race runs to clockwork.

Race director, Ken Rushton said: "We're very grateful for all those helping tomorrow and for the support of local residents.

"We have leafleted homes in the area to let them know about the race and we're grateful for Alsager's support."

He added: "The Thirteen club in Cedar Avenue ST7 2PH has very kindly offered us 40 car parking spaces .

Perfect for anyone wanting to get away quickly after the race.  Around five-six minutes away from race HQ."T
