By Deborah Bowyer 17th Jan 2022

A group set up to help toads safely cross roads near Alsager during the mating season is set to have new volunteers come on board – thanks to Nub News.

We ran an exclusive story in our newsletter on Friday click here. which was shared across Social Media today (Monday).

And the result is that Smallwood Toad Patrols, set up four years ago, is now set to have more volunteers come on board after reading our article.

The delighted co-ordinator, and Alsager town councillor, Jane Smith, contact Nub News today to say the 40 or more volunteers currently on board is set to be expanded.

Jane said: "Just to say thank you so much for covering our story.

"We've already had new volunteers contact us who have read about it in Alsager Nub News. Kindest regards."

The volunteers work in Cherry Lane, Alsager and Lawton Heath and Brookhouse Lane, Moss End Lane, Pitcher Lane, Mill Lane and Back Lane in Smallwood.
