Police have released two men under investigation following reports of an assault in Linley Road, Alsager.

The police helicopter was called in to help with a search of the area, which including nearby Sandbach.

A statement released by Cheshire Police today says: "At around 8.40pm on Tuesday (May 3) May, police were called to reports of an assault.

"Officers, supported by the police helicopter, attended the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate anyone with any injuries."

Police say two men, a 25-year-old from Kidsgrove and a 34-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent were arrested on suspicion of assault and have since been released under investigation.

They are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
