Police launch investigation and a man is arrested after van and train collision

A man has been arrested and British Transport Police are investigating after a collision between a van and a train in Alsager.

Police were called to the Alsager line at 1.13pm on Saturday (February 11th) following reports that a van had been hit by a train.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Thankfully no one was injured however the driver was arrested at the scene for dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and endangering the safety of the railway.

"He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue."
