A new business has opened in Alsager and already the owner set to open another branch and hasn't ruled out opening more.

Ridgways Hearing Care has opened its third branch in Sandbach Road South, taking over a building which was formerly a decorating shop.

The business specialises in hearing assessments, hearing aids/devices, ear wax removal, hearing accessories, ear healthcare checks, hearing aid repair and tinnitus management.

Owner, audiologist Alison Ridgway, says the response to the Alsager branch has been very positive.

"It's a big step sometimes for people to come in and ask for a hearing test," she said.

"Being able to hear in a crowded room can be a struggle for some people.

"It does make a big difference when people can hear properly. It's clinically proven that there is a link between dementia and hearing loss.

"We would say if you're over 60, you should get your hearing testing regularly."

Ridgways has branches in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Endon and is set to open a fourth in Leek in the New Year.

Alison has a wealth of experience having worked for the NHS as an audiologist at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Macclesfield District General Hospital and Trafford Park.

She added: "We offer some services which may not be available on the NHS.

"There is a high demand for our services. We put a lot of focus on customer care and provide aftercare which is important."

Alison, who went to school in Congleton, says today's hearing aids are discreet and fit neatly, offering connections to your phone or TV.

"It's the first time we have had a branch on the high street and it's going very well.

"People are welcome to pop-in and have a chat with us. We're also looking to open more branches after Leek."
