Network Rail are "exploring possible safety improvements" including an option to "permanently close" a footpath crossing in Alsager to "help improve safety" for the public, train passengers and railway staff.

Network Rail is carrying out a safety review of the footpath railway crossing 'North of the Hall' which is located on footpath eight near to Christopher Mitford Road in Alsager.

Network Rail stressed that they were only at the consultation stage of the process and "no firm decisions" had been made on the future of the crossing.

As part of their assessment, Network Rail want to speak to crossing users and local residents to "understand the impact of any changes".

Residents are invited to attend a virtual drop-in event on Thursday, 10th June from 4pm to 7pm via Microsoft Teams where Network Rail will be able to share their proposals. Residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments.

If you would like to attend this event, email [email protected] (quoting North of the Hall crossing) and Network Rail will allocate you a timeslot. Residents will have to provide their full name and contact details.
