Motorcyclist taken to hospital after being in collision with a car on M6

A motorcyclist was taken to Leighton Hospital at the weekend after a collision with a car on the M6 near Crewe, with the motorway gridlocked for over 90 minutes.

At 10.50am on Saturday 5 April, emergency services received reports of a collision on the M6 Northbound, between junction 16 (Crewe) and 17 (Sandbach).

Motorists wanting to enter the M6 from Junction 16 at Barthomley faced long delays with traffic at a standstill. All lanes reopened around 12.25pm.

The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 10.50am on Saturday 5 April, police were called to a collision on the M6 northbound, between junctions 16 and 17.

"Highways Officers attended and found the collision involved a car and a motorbike.

"The rider of the bike sustained minor injuries and was taken to Leighton Hospital as a precautionary measure."
