An Alsager mum has become a super sleuth – after launching her own Podcast based around her favourite author.
Teacher, Hazel Jones, has read countless Agatha Christie novels, seen her films and watched The Mousetrap on stage.
Now the mum-of-two has gone one step further – launching her Agatha Christie-inspired Podcast series enjoyed by listeners all over the world.
Hazel loves everything about all of Agatha Christie's 66 novels and has brought the subject up-to-date by marrying the stories with real-life crime tales.
The history teacher, who grew up in Alsager, started working on the podcasts during lockdown and it's grown from there, working from a studio in her loft.
There are currently eight podcasts called "AbitofaChristie" and the passionate Agatha Christie fan from Crewe Road is working on the ninth.
Each podcast is named with titles such as "The Body in the Library", "A Murder is Announced" and "Three Act Tragedy".
The podcasts delve into true crime and murder mysteries, connecting with historical crime cases following a similar plot.
Hazel also delves into the minds of a diverse array of guests, including a true crime author, a West End actor, a practising witch, a police detective, a talented chef and cookery book author, and even a psychic medium.
"I love all the problem solving and the characters. I then look for a true crime case and work the two together and someone different to read them.
"It's amazing that this wonderful woman is still delighting readers a hundred years later.
Hazel, who has two children aged eight and three, thinks she got her love of Agatha Christie from her grandmother, Margaret Ashworth, who was a big fan.
And it's not just the UK where listeners to the podcast come from – the greatest number of fans live in Melbourne, Australia.
Understandably, Hazel has a growing list of followers for 'AbitofaChristie' with fans engrossed in the spell-binding subjects the podcasts cover.
One said:" Never miss an episode. Very creative and thought provoking. Not sure where the author gets her creativity but it makes for some great entertainment."
Another commented: "Lots of variety in each show with plenty of interesting trivia, historical facts, related interviews, and analysis of Christie's novels. A top listen."
