Man arrested in connection with stabbing of 49-year-old key worker in Alsager detained under Mental Health Act

A man arrested in relation to a serious incident in Alsager has been detained under Section 2 of the Metal Health Act.

The 26-year-old local man was arrested on Saturday 9 January on suspicion of section 18 assault.

His arrest relates to an incident which occurred shortly after 6am on Friday 8 January where a 49-year-old woman was stabbed at a store on Shady Grove in Alsager.

The victim remains in hospital at this time where she is making a good recovery from her injuries.
