A Lance Corporal with Alsager links who fought in the WW1 is just one of the soldiers honoured in a major exhibition in the town this weekend.
Memorabilia and items of equipment are just part of an exhibition being staged by the Cheshire Villages Great War Society with the help of the Alsager branch of the Royal British Legion.
And schools in Alsager will be displaying work about WW1 at the exhibition the free exhibition at Alsager Civic on Saturday (November 5th) from 10 am until 3pm.
Lance Corporal Arthur Ellis's mum lived in Fairfield, Alsager. A member of the North Staffordshire regiment, he was a "bomb thrower" and died in action on October 13th, 1915 aged 27 years old.
As well as displays about Alsager, other villages such as Rode Heath, Odd Rode, Church Lawton and Barthomley will also be featured.
A spokesperson said: "There will be approximately 30 stalls displaying historical documents, information and artefacts from Cheshire in WW1.
"There will be a large area dedicated to Alsager and closely surrounding areas, with a book having been produced by Harry Carlisle.
"The Society would love any visitors to the exhibition to bring along their own pieces of history pertaining to Alsager and the Great War.
"Some of the local schools have produced some work for our exhibition, which will be displayed in the large hall.
"The exhibition will be formally opened by a dignitary at 10.30am, precluded by a performance from the 2493 (Alsager) Squadron band."
The exhibition will be the 33rd staged by the Cheshire Villages Great War Society during the last eight years.
