Life's for living and that's certainly the case at Alsager's Twyford House Care Home.
The top-of-the-range home in Richard Woodcock Way offers luxury living with exceptional care in beautiful surroundings.
But that's not all, for the Twyford House way is different in that it's designed to put a real spring in your step.
Latest research shows that only one in four people over the age of 65 exercises regularly.
As we get older, the body naturally weakens, muscles no longer work to the best of their ability, and balance starts to decline.
However regular exercise can help improve your mobility and balance and can reduce the risk of having a hip fracture by as much as 40 per cent.
These are some of the known benefits to keeping active:
· Improves sleep
· Maintains a healthy weight
· Improves the quality of life
· Helps to alleviate and manage stress
It can also reduce your chances of getting diseases - cardiovascular disease by 35 per cent, Type two diabetes by 40%, falls by 30 per cent, depression by 30 per cent, joint and back pain by 20 per cent and cancers of the colon and breast by 20 per cent. *All statistics courtesy of the NHS Guidelines
Leaving your home to move into a care home is a huge decision with many concerned they are giving up their independence.
Twyford House Care Home in Alsager actively promotes a healthy lifestyle and positive wellbeing all year round.
Their holistic approach to care and support ensures they provide a full and varied activities programme that meets the needs of everyone who lives in the home.
The home holds regular exercise sessions that are fun and help start the day with a positive mindset.
A spokesperson said: "It's important as we age that we continue to keep moving.
"Physical activity helps maintain independence, improves strength, balance and emotional wellbeing."
They have recently partnered with the Alsager Lawn Tennis Club who provide weekly coaching lessons to the ladies and gentlemen from the home and Alsager U3A and District hold regular groups there.
Trips out as far as Wales for days by the sea and local visits to the garden centre to choose plants for the residents' garden are all part of the daily programme.
The residents are so focussed on keeping active they have set up a walking group and come rain or shine are getting their steps in around the ground!
"Life doesn't stop just because you move into a care home and Twyford House resident Marie is proof of all of this," the spokesperson added.
She moved to the care home just over a year ago and has since celebrated her 106th birthday with her new-found friends.
Reflecting back on her life, Marie shares her words of wisdom many of us might benefit from: "Have a good diet and plenty of exercise. Also, don't go off at the deep end with people, be nice to each other.
"Living here is like having a second chance in life, we have lived one life now we are living another here!"
Now at 106, Marie (pictured above) is loving life. She is leader of the walking group, can regularly be found tending the plants in the garden and loves the group bowling or dancing sessions.
