There were lots of smiling faces at Alsager School today as Year 11 collected their GCSE results.

The Hassall Road place of secondary and sixth form education, is an academy with over 1500 pupils and 150 staff.

And this morning, Year 11 were full of smiles as they found out their GCSE grades.

In a statement, the school said: "This year group have worked exceptionally hard, and their hard work has really paid off with many pupils securing the highest grades. The results they collected today reflected the commitment they had shown to their learning, and many will now be able to move confidently onto the next stage of their educational journey."

Headteacher, Andrea O'Neill is delighted: "It was lovely to see them all this morning and great to see that many will be returning to our sixth form. GCSEs are really demanding, and they should feel so proud of their achievements. This year group were a delight to teach, and I am certain they will do well in future. We have lots of options for them in our sixth form so even if they are still undecided, they can get in touch with our sixth form team to talk through next steps."

Miss Jardine, Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for achievement, said: "After the success of last week's A level results we were keeping everything crossed that GCSE results would be as impressive. It is always a nerve-racking time, but we are all so pleased with the results."

"The combination of staff expertise, pupil hard work and parental support and trust in the school has ensured that our pupils have fantastic results and so many have outperformed their target grades."

The school will continue to offer support to any students who need advice and guidance over the coming weeks. In addition, places are still available for anyone who does not have a post-16 course secured for September 2024 and would like to join their exceptionally high performing college. Congratulations Joel and Ethan!
