A local funeral directors has pledged funds towards Alsager grassroots sport.

Joseph Edwards & Sons, a family-run funeral directors in Alsager, established in 1882 are supporting Alsager's Walking Football Team for their upcoming tour of Portugal.

Andrew Edwards has arranged a presentation of the new kit to the teams on Thursday August 29 at The Joe Edwards Pavilion, Alsager Cricket Club at 7.30pm.

The firm is located at 144/146 Crewe Rd, Alsager, Stoke-on-Trent ST7 2JA.

Andrew will be supported at the presentation by Stoke City legends, Jimmy Greenhoff and Terry Conroy. Between them, the two former professional footballers have almost 600 appearances for the Potters.

Both players have also played for fellow local side Crewe Alexandra. Jimmy Greenhoff also played for locally-supported sides Manchester United and Port Vale.
