An investigation is being launched into the cause of a shed fire in Alsager.

Two fire engines from Crewe were called to the blaze in Close Lane yesterday at 3.37 pm.

Firefighters used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to put out a fire in a shed. A third covering jet was used to protect neighbouring property.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The crews then damped the area down using hose reel jets and turning over the debris.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out. The shed measured some four metres by eight metres. There were no reported casualties."
