A Rode Heath school came up with a novel idea to thank pupils for their amazing Ofsted report.

Carl Leech, headteacher at Rode Heath Primary School, treated pupils and staff to an ice cream to celebrate their recent success.

The idea met with massive cheers when Mr Leech told pupils in assembly that they were getting a treat for their hard work.

And bang on time, an ice cream van pulled up in the playground of the Heath Avenue school today (Thursday) to deliver the sweet treat which included ice lollies for those not able to eat an ice cream.

"How else do you thank pupils for all their hard work? They have all worked incredibly hard and deserve to be rewarded," said Mr Leech.

"We're so proud of our pupils and all that they have achieved. Without their hard work, we wouldn't have this success."

Tom Pilato, director of Tom's Super Whip, said he was delighted to visit the school and serve 260 ice creams which included staff.

"Everyone loves an ice cream, even on a cold day," he said.

Rode Heath Primary School, which also takes pupils from parts of Sandbach, was judged to be 'good' in its latest inspection and looks set to receive outstanding in the next.

Sandbach Nub News told here https://alsager.nub.news/news/local-news/high-praise-for-rode-heath-school-and-its-exciting-and-rich-curriculum-in-ofsted-inspection-165699 how Mr Leech had written to parents giving them the good news.

"Since our last inspection in May 2017 where the school was graded 'good' overall and outstanding in two of the five areas, there have been many challenges, not least the global pandemic and year on year reducing budget.

"With this in mind, the achievements detailed in the report really are something to celebrate with the implication that we are 'outstanding' in all areas under this new, even more rigorous inspection framework," he said.

Inspectors said: 'there is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if they were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection'.

The latest inspection, which took place in November, was an ungraded inspection and the next, usually within the next year or two, will be a graded inspection when the school could then receive a higher grade.
